CRITIC'S CHOICE.(VARIETY)

Byline: Neal Justin; Staff Writer

- "A Decade Under the Influence" (7 p.m. IFC) celebrates the '70s, a period of gritty, brutally honest filmmaking. Unfortunately, the documentary doesn't share that same spirit. While it contains some great interviews and great clips, it's too much in love with its own subject to offer us an unbiased education. Still, keep a notebook handy and jot down all the great video suggestions you'll get.

- The Smoking Gun web site is a kick because it's little more than a collection of unbelievable documents. Readers can fill in their own punchlines. "Smoking Gun TV" (7 p.m. CRT) doesn't trust its audience to do the same. Those same documents are used to kick off silly routines, such as one in which host Mo Rocca goes to a salon to look just like Nick Nolte's mug shot. Stick to the Internet version.

- Ashanti, Dido and other artists with no last names perform on the season finale of "Pepsi Smash" (8 p.m. KMWB, Ch. 23).
