FED: Four more deaths push road toll to 39

Four deaths on the nation's roads have pushed the holiday road toll to 39.

The latest fatality was in Western Australia, where a woman died in a head-on collisionnorth of Perth.

Inspector GARY KOSOVICH says the 53-year-old woman was driving one of the two carswhich collided head-on about 8km north of Bindoon shortly before 4pm (WST) yesterday onthe Great Northern Highway.

He says the woman was alone in her vehicle.

It was the second death on West Australian roads during the holiday period.

Queensland has recorded nine deaths while New South Wales and South Australia haveeach recorded seven deaths.

Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory remain fatality-free.
