Judge orders FBI to share bombing data

SALT LAKE CITY - A federal judge has ordered the FBI to producemore information about its record-keeping in response to an inquiryby a man who contends unreleased video and other records from the1995 Oklahoma City bombing will show more people were involved inthe attack.

U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups said Wednesday that Salt LakeCity attorney Jesse Trentadue has raised valid questions aboutwhether the agency has done enough to find a pair of videotapessought as part of a Freedom of Information Act request by Trentadue,sued to get access to the tapes in 2008.

The government has until June 30 to provide the information onrecord-keeping and policies.

Study: 48 Congolese raped every hour

DAKAR, Senegal - The African nation of Congo has been called theworst place on earth to be a woman. A study released Wednesday showsthat it's even worse than previously thought: 1,152 women are rapedevery day, a rate equal to 48 per hour.

That rate is 26 times more than the previous estimate of 16,000rapes reported in one year by the United Nations.

The analysis, to be published in the American Journal of PublicHealth in June, shows that more than 400,000 women had been raped inCongo during a 12-month period between 2006 and 2007.

Congo, a nation of 70 million people that is equal in size toWestern Europe, has been plagued by decades of war. Its vast forestsare rife with militias that have systematically used rape to destroycommunities.

Loughner writes letters to court

TUCSON, Ariz. - A judge in Arizona has ordered that two lettersrecently written by the suspect in the Tucson shooting rampageshould be given to his defense attorneys but not prosecutors.

The ruling Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Larry Burns saiddefense attorneys for 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner should getcopies of the letters because they pertain to the attorney-clientrelationship.

The judge did not provide any details about what the letters say.

Officer's gun fires at school, no one hurt

HAZELWOOD, Mo. - A school resource officer is off the job in asuburban St. Louis district after his revolver discharged while hewas cleaning it.

Officials said no one was injured when the gun fired Wednesday atHazelwood East High School.

The school district said the officer will not be returning tothe school. St. Louis County police say the five-year veteran of theforce remains on duty because no one was hurt.

A police spokesman said the department is looking at why theofficer was cleaning his weapon in the school.

Cannibal suspect wounded in gunbattle

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia - A would-be cannibal was arrested and incritical condition after being wounded in a gunbattle with officersduring an undercover operation, officials said Wednesday. Apoliceman was also wounded.

The 43-year-old suspect used the Internet to search for a personwho wanted to commit suicide and would agree to let him eat thebody, police said. A Swiss citizen initially agreed but laterchanged his mind and informed authorities.

An undercover officer who pretended he was the would-be victimmet the suspect, but the operation turned into a gunbattle.

Police spokeswoman Denisa Baloghova said Wednesday the suspectwas shot several times .
